Can't remember the name of old romance novel!

I read a book about 15-20 years ago.... possibly a Harlequin novel. What I can remember is that this girl is living in a foreign country, engaged to a man there (possibly a prince? Definitely someone important.) This guy is revealed to be a douche. Before she figures this out however there is some political unrest and the girl's dad hires the girl's ex to rescue her.... although she doesn't realize she needs rescuing. He essentially has to kidnap her and they end up on the run trying to escape the country. And of course fall back in love and get busy along the way. Ringing any bells for anyone?
